Builds, equipment, Karma and Runes

Build around a hero's job in the team, then connect equipment, stats, Runes and Karma to that job. There is no verified universal best-in-slot list.

A DragonSword : Awakening build connects equipment, stats, Reforge, Runes, Karma, skills, and Signal synergy to one hero's actual job in a three-character team. There is no verified universal best-in-slot list. Start with a functional set structure and a main stat that supports the normal rotation, then spend expensive resources only after the first team and its status chain are stable. Exact loadouts from community guides remain author recommendations. [S01] [G13] [G14]

Build anatomy

Treat the build as several layers with different purposes. Equipment supplies base values, main and secondary stats, and set effects, while Reforge changes secondary stats on eligible max-level gear. Runes and Karma add further choices around the hero's intended role. Signal Skills belong to combat switching rather than the item sheet, so they should be evaluated alongside the build instead of mistaken for an equipment stat. [S01] [G13] [G14]

Begin with the repeated combat condition. Identify whether the hero is applying a status, entering through a Signal, staying on field for damage, breaking protection, controlling enemies, or supporting recovery. Then choose item effects that the real team can activate. A strong-looking Poison line does not help a party that never creates Poison, and an Airborne bonus is not automatically useful when the rotation keeps enemies grounded. [G14]

The build should also match the account's progression stage. Whisper of the House recommends making one field driver functional first, giving secondary heroes enough investment to survive and complete their entries, and delaying a second full team until the first damage package works. This is a community budgeting method, not an official requirement. [G14]

Equipment

GamerHour and Whisper of the House both recommend reading the displayed set tiers instead of assuming five matching pieces create an extra bonus. When a set panel ends at three pieces, their practical structure is a three-piece core plus a useful two-piece effect from another set. The second bonus should support a condition the hero or team repeatedly triggers. [G13] [G14]

The practical lesson is to read what the current item panel actually grants at two and three pieces. A three-piece core only makes sense when its condition or stat supports actions the hero performs in the normal rotation. Fill the remaining slots with a documented second effect rather than assuming that more pieces from the first set create an unpublished tier. [G13] [G14]

GamerHour reports that equipment quality affects its available values and upgrade potential. The collected official notes do not define a complete rarity table, drop-rate table, or single strongest farming location. Treat those details as To be confirmed and compare an actual drop with the intended set structure before investing. [G13]

Stats

Common offensive directions reported by the gear sources include Attack, Critical Hit Chance, Critical Damage, Defense Ignore, and damage tied to a condition. Defensive examples include Max HP and Critical Damage Reduction. This is not a complete stat database, and no source proves one priority order for all heroes. [G13] [G14]

Choose the main stat by the build's current weakness. Whisper of the House uses Critical Hit Chance when existing Critical Damage is too inconsistent, broad Attack when the full rotation benefits, and matching condition damage when the team repeatedly creates that condition. These are decision examples from one community guide rather than official thresholds. [G14]

Before committing materials, compare the candidate item with the hero's current job and the team's repeated status chain. A useful main stat on a temporary piece may be enough for progression without justifying deep optimization. Reserve exact crafting routes and item-source claims for evidence that is recorded against the current client version.

Do not treat 80% Critical Hit Chance, 150% Critical Damage, or a mandatory Ruinsbreaker core as universal targets. Destructoid and AllThings. How repeat those values and much of the same character table in nearly identical order, so they cannot be counted as independent verification. The figures remain attributed community targets rather than rules for every hero. [G15] [G16]

Reforging

GamerHour reports that Reforge becomes available after equipment reaches its maximum level. It rerolls secondary stats using materials and Gold, and locking a desirable line increases the cost. That makes Reforge a later optimization step rather than an automatic action on every new drop. [G13]

Before rolling, define what the item must keep and what result is acceptable. Whisper of the House keeps the main condition and useful offensive lines while replacing conditions the team never activates. Its stop rule is to preserve a long-term piece once it has the key condition and enough useful offense for its intended job. That remains one author's budgeting method rather than a guaranteed optimum. [G14]

Runes

Hound13 confirms two Rune changes from version 1.0.7. Inventory capacity increased from 200 to 500, and four-star Rune synthesis can now produce five-star Runes. These are current system facts, but they do not establish a universal Rune priority for individual heroes. [S06]

Select a Rune because its displayed effect supports the hero's repeated job, not because its star count is higher in isolation. The official update confirms inventory and synthesis changes without naming a best source, rarity threshold, or hero-specific option. Exact Rune loadouts in the Destructoid and AllThings. How tables remain duplicated community recommendations rather than independent verification. [S06] [G15] [G16]

Karma

The collected gear guides describe Karma as the weapon-side part of a build, with stats and effects that should match the hero's role. Whisper of the House separates Basic Karma, which can support a broader condition or stat, from Exclusive Karma tied to a hero's mechanic. Those categories help compare options, but they do not make every Exclusive choice automatically superior. [G13] [G14]

Evaluate Karma after the equipment and status plan is clear. A general effect can be useful when it strengthens a condition the party already creates, while a character-specific effect matters only when its mechanic appears in the normal rotation. Exact acquisition routes, reward odds, and material returns should remain outside this guide until they are recorded in the current evidence package.

Whisper of the House invests in an Exclusive Karma when its effect changes a skill or mechanic used in the normal rotation and after the hero has functional equipment. That sequence is a practical community recommendation, not a verified best-in-slot rule. Claims that every Exclusive option is best remain To be confirmed. [G14]

Signal synergy

Signal is the test that connects the item plan back to combat. The official system asks one hero to build a Status Ailment with Active Skills and another to enter through a compatible Signal Skill. A build can show attractive panel stats yet fail if it boosts a condition the party does not create or if the player switches before the trigger is ready. [S01]

Test changes against the same repeatable encounter. Check whether the intended status appears, whether the teammate Signal becomes available, and whether the entry continues the chain. Comparing different enemies or difficulties can hide whether the equipment change helped. This testing approach follows the comparison method described by Whisper of the House. [G14]

Version 1.0.8 fixed combat-state issues involving Sion's Relic, Theresia's Inquisition, and Kalsion's Royal Flame. It did not announce coefficient changes. Builds created before those fixes remain launch-period references, and any character-specific best setup must be rechecked rather than silently labeled current. [S07]
